Опис
Dyer's chamomile is a European perennial herb grown since ancient times as the premier yellow dye plant of the pre-synthetic era — the flower heads yield a clear, lasting golden-yellow dye on wool, silk, and cotton mordanted with alum, one of the most reliable and lightfast of all natural dyes. Its profusion of bright, golden-yellow, daisy-like flowers produced continuously from early summer through fall makes it an outstanding ornamental in dry, sunny garden borders where it cascades with a finely textured, aromatic foliage typical of the chamomile tribe. Despite its common name, it is not closely related to medicinal chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla) and its flower heads should not be used interchangeably; it is however attractive to native bees, hoverflies, and small butterflies that congregate on the abundant flowers. Prune spent flower stalks back by one-third after each bloom flush to prolong flowering and prevent the plant from becoming floppy; divide clumps every 2–3 years to maintain vigor.
Спосіб посадки: Посів у відкритий ґрунт

Висота: 12–24 дюймів
Дні до схожості: 7–14
Температура ґрунту для схожості: 16–21°C

Час посадки: -4–0 тижнів від останнього весняного заморозка
Direct sow on soil surface (needs light for germination) in early spring in average, well-drained, somewhat poor soil in full sun; dyer's chamomile self-seeds prolifically and establishes well in poor, lean conditions where excessive fertility leads to rank growth and fewer flowers.
