Chinese Skullcap

Chinese skullcap, or Huang Qin, is a hardy perennial with violet-blue tubular flowers, long valued in traditional East Asian herbalism. Sow seed after a period of cold stratification into well-drained soil in full sun. Roots are typically harvested from plants three or more years old, after the tops die back. Keep soil moderately moist and avoid waterlogging, which can rot the crown.
