In June and July it produces dangling clusters of lily-of-the-valley-scented, white, bell-shaped flowers on gracefully arching stems — the flowers are honey-sweet in fragrance and highly attractive to native bees. The distinctive glaucous (powdery blue-green) leaves are semi-evergreen to deciduous depending on the winter, and the shrub slowly spreads by stolons to form loose colonies. Grow in wet, highly acidic soil in partial shade; it is excellent companion to Atlantic white cedar, blueberries, and swamp azaleas in a native bog or rain garden planting. Avoid alkaline or dry conditions, which are fatal.

Час посадки: 0–4 тижнів spring
Plant nursery transplants in spring in wet to moist, highly acidic (pH 4.5–5.5), sandy or peaty soil in partial shade. Zenobia is a bog and pocosin specialist that requires consistently acidic, wet conditions — it declines in alkaline or dry soils.
