Опис
Direct sow in fall in well-drained, slightly acidic to neutral, dry to moderately moist soil in full sun — yellow wild indigo is the Gulf Coast and south-central species of Baptisia, producing upright spikes of clear, bright yellow pea-flowers in April–May on compact, mounded, blue-green foliage that remains attractive and deer-resistant all season after the flowers fade. It is native to the prairies and open woodlands of Texas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma, where it is a defining plant of the coastal prairie and post oak savanna flora. Like all false indigos, it develops a deep, extensive taproot that makes it highly drought tolerant and difficult to transplant once established — plant it in its permanent location from seed or small transplant and leave it undisturbed. The inflated, spherical seed pods are attractive in dried arrangements. Nitrogen-fixing; improves soil for neighboring plants. Slow to establish but essentially immortal once settled — clumps are known to persist and bloom for decades.

Direct sow seed in fall or scarify and sow in spring in well-drained, slightly acidic to neutral, sandy to loamy, dry to moderately moist soil in full sun to light shade; yellow wild indigo is slow to establish — it may take 3 years to bloom from seed — but is extremely long-lived and low-maintenance once established.
