Опис

Yellow honeysuckle is a native semi-evergreen vine of the Ozarks and Appalachian foothills, one of the most ornamentally beautiful of all American honeysuckles — its showy clusters of vivid golden-yellow to orange-yellow trumpet flowers in spring are magnets for ruby-throated hummingbirds during their northward migration and are also visited by long-tongued bumblebees and sphinx moths. Unlike the invasive Japanese honeysuckle (Lonicera japonica) that has escaped across the South, yellow honeysuckle is a well-behaved native that twines moderately and stays in bounds without smothering trees or shrubs; it is semi-evergreen in mild winters in the South. Small red berries ripen in summer and are eaten by mockingbirds and other fruit-eating birds. Train on a picket fence, stone wall, arbor, or through a native shrub border — it blooms most profusely in partial shade to full sun and combines beautifully with coral honeysuckle for extended bloom.
