Yellow Corydalis

Sow seed in fall in well-drained, gritty soil in partial shade; yellow corydalis is a European native that has naturalized in North American gardens and thrives in wall crevices, shaded rock gardens, and the base of stone steps where drainage is perfect. Once established it self-sows freely and colonizes shaded hard-to-plant areas, blooming with small tubular yellow flowers nearly continuously from spring through fall in cool climates. The finely divided, gray-green foliage is attractive even out of bloom. Remove unwanted seedlings while small; established plants have taproots that resist transplanting.
