Опис

Yellow butterwort is a native carnivorous plant of the Gulf Coastal Plain's wet pine flatwoods and seepage slopes, producing flat rosettes of bright yellow-green, greasy-textured leaves covered in sticky glands that capture small insects and fungus gnats — the oily, buttery texture of the leaves inspired the 'butterwort' common name. In late winter and spring, beautiful, pale yellow, five-petaled flowers on long, delicate stalks emerge from the center of each rosette, appearing before many other wildflowers in the Gulf Coast bog community. Unlike the complex snap-trap mechanism of Venus flytrap or the drowning pitchers of Sarracenia, butterworts use a simple passive flypaper strategy — insects land on the sticky leaves and are unable to escape; digestive glands then secrete enzymes to break down the prey. Yellow butterwort is relatively easy to grow among carnivorous plants, adapting to a range of wet, acidic to neutral conditions and tolerating the heat and humidity of Gulf Coast winters when other carnivorous plants may struggle. Propagate readily from leaf cuttings laid on moist sphagnum moss in bright light. Спосіб посадки: Висадка розсади Відстань між рослинами: 3–6 дюймів Висота: 2–8 дюймів Дні до схожості: 14–30 Температура ґрунту для схожості: 18–24°C
