Опис

Plant in moist, fertile, deep, slightly acidic to neutral soil in partial shade — yellow buckeye is unusual among trees in that it actually performs better in partial shade than full sun, making it one of the best large native trees for the shaded garden. Native to rich mountain forests of the southern Appalachians, it produces beautiful upright clusters of yellow flowers in spring that attract hummingbirds and long-tongued native bees, and large smooth seed pods containing 1–3 mahogany-brown nuts with pale patches — striking ornamental fall fruit. The palmate compound leaves of 5 leaflets are among the first to emerge in spring and first to drop in fall (often by August in drought). It tolerates understory conditions and is frequently found growing as a subcanopy tree beneath tulip poplar and basswood. The nuts are toxic to humans but consumed by squirrels. Often considered the most beautiful of the North American buckeyes. Спосіб посадки: Висадка розсади Відстань між рослинами: 300–480 дюймів Висота: 480–960 дюймів Дні до схожості: 14–28 Температура ґрунту для схожості: 10–18°C

The fresh nuts lose viability rapidly — plant within weeks of collection.
