Опис

White-top pitcher plant may be the most visually stunning of all native North American pitcher plants — its tall, erect pitchers are dramatically bi-colored with deep green lower tubes transitioning to brilliant, white, red-veined upper sections that function as translucent windows to attract and confuse trapped insects attempting to escape. It is endemic to the Gulf Coastal Plain of Alabama, Florida panhandle, Georgia, Mississippi, and Louisiana, where it grows in open, frequently burned, wet longleaf pine savannas — one of the most threatened habitats in North America, having lost over 97% of its original extent. White pitcher plant grows second pitchers in fall (alongside the primary summer pitchers) that are among the most ornamental of any carnivorous plant in the autumn garden, and the spectacular crimson flowers in spring are pollinated by queen bumblebees. A critical conservation indicator species, white pitcher plant should only be purchased from reputable nurseries propagating from cultivated stock; wild populations are legally protected and ecologically irreplaceable. Grow in an outdoor bog garden in full sun for the most impressive pitcher development. Спосіб посадки: Висадка розсади Відстань між рослинами: 12–18 дюймів Висота: 18–48 дюймів Дні до схожості: 30–90 Температура ґрунту для схожості: 16–21°C
