Опис

Washington hawthorn is the most widely planted of all native North American hawthorns in cultivation — an exceptionally ornamental small tree with multiple seasons of interest: dense clusters of white flowers in May, glossy, deeply lobed leaves turning orange-red in fall, and abundant clusters of small bright red fruits that persist into winter. It is one of the highest-value wildlife trees available for the eastern garden: at least 20 species of birds consume the fruits, including cedar waxwings, robins, and bluebirds; the dense, thorny structure (1–3 inch curved thorns) provides nesting habitat for catbirds, thrashers, and kingbirds; and over 150 species of Lepidoptera use native Crataegus as larval host plants. Washington hawthorn adapts to urban conditions including soil compaction, air pollution, and alkaline pH better than most native landscape trees, making it suitable for street planting, parking lots, and urban parks where native trees are rarely successful. A top choice for combining year-round ornamental interest with maximum wildlife value in limited space. Спосіб посадки: Висадка розсади Відстань між рослинами: 120–240 дюймів Висота: 180–360 дюймів Дні до схожості: 60–180 Температура ґрунту для схожості: 4–16°C
