Опис

Plant in moist, humus-rich, slightly acidic soil in partial to full shade; walking iris (Neomarica gracilis) takes its name from its fascinating method of reproduction: after the short-lived fragrant iris-like flowers (white with blue and brown markings) appear at the tip of a fan-shaped leaf stalk, plantlets form at the same tip and the stalk bends under their weight until the plantlets touch the ground and root — 'walking' the plant outward from the mother clump. The tropical-looking, fan-shaped clumps of stiff, flat, strap-like leaves grow in dense stands that are ornamental year-round. The flowers appear several times through the warm season, each lasting only a day but produced in succession over weeks. Also called the 'apostle plant' because the original observation was that each stalk must produce 12 leaves (one for each apostle) before flowering — an observation that is approximately correct for mature stalks. An outstanding low-maintenance shade plant for zone 9–12 that naturalized easily in humid, subtropical gardens. Спосіб посадки: Розмноження діленням куща Відстань між рослинами: 18–24 дюймів Висота: 18–30 дюймів

In zone 9 it may be damaged by hard freezes but regrows vigorously from established rhizomes.
