Опис

Virginia Mallow is a tall, bold native perennial, native to the rich, moist soils of bottomlands, riverbanks, woodland edges, and disturbed clearings from Virginia and Pennsylvania south to Georgia and west to Indiana, growing to 8–10 feet tall in fertile, moist soil and producing a continuous succession of small, five-petaled, white flowers from July through September that attract an exceptional diversity of native bees, including many specialist bees that are important pollinators. The large, palmately lobed leaves and towering height give Virginia Mallow a dramatic architectural quality in the native garden, providing bold structure in the back of borders and in naturalized meadow plantings. The abundant seeds are consumed by goldfinches, sparrows, and other seed-eating birds in fall and winter; the plant's stems provide nesting material and stem-nesting sites for solitary native bees. Grow in fertile, moist, slightly acidic to neutral soil in full sun to partial shade; it is surprisingly adaptable and self-sows reliably once established. Спосіб посадки: Посів у відкритий ґрунт Відстань між рослинами: 36–60 дюймів Висота: 60–120 дюймів Дні до схожості: 14–30 Температура ґрунту для схожості: 18–24°C
