The hardy trifoliate orange is a deciduous citrus relative bearing small, aromatic, seedy fruit used for marmalade and flavoring. Remarkably cold-tolerant, it survives well below freezing and is widely used as a dwarfing rootstock for other citrus. Plant in full sun on well-drained soil; its dense, fiercely thorny growth makes an effective barrier hedge.
