Опис

Plant in moist, fertile, acidic, well-drained soil in full sun to partial afternoon shade; princess flower is one of the most eye-catching flowering shrubs available for zone 9–11 gardens, producing large (3–4 inch), intensely saturated violet-purple flowers with prominent red stamens almost continuously from spring through frost. The soft, velvety leaves with prominent veining provide beautiful texture between bloom cycles, and new leaves often have a reddish tinge. Prune back by one-third in early spring to keep the plant compact and encourage maximum branching and flower production — unpruned plants become leggy. Maintain acidic soil pH (5.5–6.5) for best performance; apply chelated iron if leaves yellow with green veins. In zone 9a it may suffer frost damage in hard winters but often regrows from the base. Tibouchina is outstanding as a specimen plant, in large containers, or as an informal hedge where its brilliant purple flowers create a stunning focal point. Спосіб посадки: Розмноження живцюванням Відстань між рослинами: 48–84 дюймів Висота: 60–180 дюймів Дні до схожості: 14–21 Температура ґрунту для схожості: 21–27°C

Chlorosis (yellow leaves with green veins) indicates iron deficiency from overly alkaline soil.
