Опис
Thread-leaf sundew is one of the most spectacular of all North American carnivorous plants — producing upright, thread-like leaves up to a foot tall that are covered along their entire length with long, glistening, red-tipped tentacles dripping with sticky mucilage, making the plant look like something from a science fiction film. Native to coastal plain bogs of New Jersey and the Carolinas, it is one of the largest and most dramatic of all North American sundews, capable of trapping insects as large as damselflies and small bees on its long, adhesive leaves. Pink flowers appear on tall stalks in summer; the plant goes dormant in winter in zones 5–7, forming a tight, dry bud (hibernaculum) at the soil surface that is cold-hardy to well below freezing, making it one of the more cold-tolerant carnivorous plants for outdoor bog gardens. It produces gemmae (vegetative propagules) in fall that can be planted to create new individuals — an easy propagation method that makes it more accessible than many other carnivorous plants. Grow in the standard wet, acidic, nutrient-poor bog conditions with pure water only.

Час посадки: 0–4 тижнів spring
Sprinkle seeds on moist sphagnum moss or peat/perlite mix in full sun; thread-leaf sundew produces tall, erect, thread-like leaves to 12 inches that are covered in mucilaginous glands — one of the most spectacular of all sundews, capable of trapping large insects including damselflies.
