Опис
Plant in well-drained, sandy, lean soil in full sun; the Texas sabal palm is the only native palm of the Rio Grande Delta — a majestic, fan-leafed palm native to the last remaining wild groves at the southern tip of Texas, now found in only a few protected areas such as the Sabal Palm Sanctuary near Brownsville. It is closely related to the familiar Sabal palmetto of Florida and is one of the most cold-hardy and drought-tolerant of all native palms. The massive, deeply curved fan leaves on 5-6 foot stalks create a dramatic tropical silhouette; established trees develop a broad, imposing crown. Black fruits ripen in fall and are relished by birds. A premier palm for zone 8–11 Gulf Coast gardens — exceptionally wind, salt, and drought tolerant once established and requiring little maintenance. Grow from locally sourced nursery stock; wild populations are endangered.

Plant in well-drained, slightly acidic to alkaline, lean to moderately fertile soil in full sun; Texas sabal palm is extremely drought tolerant once established and native to the Rio Grande Delta, where it grows in sandy, saline, and seasonally flooded soils. It is one of the most heat- and drought-tolerant native palms in the US.
