Опис

Plant in moist, humus-rich, slightly acidic to neutral, well-drained soil in partial to deep shade — sweet box earns its place as one of the finest shade garden shrubs by providing intensely fragrant, tiny white flowers in the dead of winter (January–February in the South), when almost nothing else is blooming, with a honeysuckle-like sweetness that drifts impressively through the still winter air. The small, narrow, glossy, dark evergreen leaves on neat, upright-spreading stems make an attractive groundcover or low shrub year-round. The dwarf variety S. hookeriana var. humilis (dwarf sweet box) is particularly useful as a low-maintenance groundcover substitute for liriope or mondo grass in deep shade, spreading slowly by underground stolons to form a dense colony. Black berries follow the winter flowers. Outstanding for dry to moderately moist shade under trees, requiring essentially no care once established other than removal of dead stems. Спосіб посадки: Розмноження діленням куща Відстань між рослинами: 24–36 дюймів Висота: 18–36 дюймів
