Опис

Seashore dropseed is a low, mat-forming native perennial grass of coastal sand dunes, beach margins, and salt flats throughout the Gulf and Atlantic coasts — one of the most salt-tolerant of all native grasses, it thrives directly behind the beach berm where salt spray and occasional saltwater flooding eliminate nearly all competition. Dense, creeping rhizomes and stolons knit sandy coastal soils together tightly, making seashore dropseed one of the most effective native plants for stabilizing sandy beaches, eroding shorelines, and coastal buffer strips without the invasiveness problems of non-native beach grasses. The fine-textured, wiry green leaves form attractive low mounds that turn tawny in winter; small, upright seed spikes provide food for ground-feeding birds. In coastal gardens and seaside landscapes, use seashore dropseed as a low-maintenance edging or groundcover grass in areas exposed to salt spray, sandy alkaline soil, and reflected heat from pavement or sea walls — conditions where ornamental grasses and lawn species fail. Спосіб посадки: Висадка розсади Відстань між рослинами: 12–24 дюймів Висота: 6–18 дюймів Дні до схожості: 14–21 Температура ґрунту для схожості: 18–24°C
