Опис

Nodding ladies' tresses is the most common and widely distributed of all North American native orchids — a fall-blooming terrestrial orchid found in moist meadows, roadsides, and open woodland edges across virtually the entire eastern United States, producing delicate spiral-whorled spikes of small, pure white, vanilla-scented flowers that are a surprise and delight when discovered blooming in September and October when orchids are the last thing most people expect to find flowering. Its late-season bloom coincides with the final nectar demand of native bumblebee queens preparing for winter, and the white, fragrant flowers are heavily visited by yellow-and-black native bumblebees that are attracted from considerable distance by the fragrance. Unlike most native terrestrial orchids, nodding ladies' tresses is found in a wide variety of habitats including disturbed sites, roadsides, golf courses, and moist lawns, making it potentially the most accessible native orchid for cultivation — it has established itself from naturally windblown seed in appropriate garden conditions without deliberate planting. A beautiful orchid available from specialist native nurseries that can succeed in average moist garden conditions when other native orchids would fail. Спосіб посадки: Висадка розсади Відстань між рослинами: 6–12 дюймів Висота: 6–20 дюймів
