Опис
Plant offsets or container specimens in very well-drained, dry, sandy to loamy soil in full sun — Spanish bayonet is the most commonly encountered native yucca of the Gulf Coast and Southeast Atlantic coast, forming dramatic, architectural rosettes of rigid, dark green leaves tipped with needle-sharp points (hence 'bayonet') on stems that can grow 6–10 feet tall and develop a trunk-like stem over years. Mature plants are truly striking landscape specimens. Enormous panicles of white, pendulous, edible flowers appear in spring-summer; the large, fleshy fruit capsules and flowers are both edible and were important food sources for Native Americans. Plant well away from foot traffic areas — the razor-sharp leaf tips are a serious safety hazard. Extraordinary drought, salt spray, and wind tolerance makes it one of the best structural plants for coastal, dune, and xeriscape landscapes. Deer-proof, essentially pest-free, and immortal in adapted sandy soils.

Час посадки: 0–4 тижнів spring
Plant offsets or container specimens in spring in very well-drained, sandy to loamy, dry, slightly acidic to alkaline soil in full sun; handle with extreme caution — the leaf tips are rigid, needle-sharp, and can cause serious eye and skin injury. Spanish bayonet is one of the most salt-tolerant yuccas, thriving in coastal conditions.
