Опис

Plant in moist, slightly acidic soil in partial to full shade — southern shield fern (Thelypteris kunthii) is the workhorse fern of the Gulf Coast and Southeast, naturalized along stream banks, drainage ditches, woodland edges, and the shaded understory of pine and live oak forests from Virginia to Texas. It spreads by creeping rhizomes to form large colonies, deciduous in the upper zones but semi-evergreen in zone 9–10, and tolerates more heat, drought, and root competition from large trees than virtually any other native fern in the South. The fronds are medium green, 2–3 feet tall, with pinnate-pinnatifid division and a soft texture; they emerge in spring and provide lush, layered textural coverage all season. Establish with regular water, then let it fend for itself — a uniquely low-maintenance shade groundcover for difficult dry-shade situations under mature trees. Remove old fronds in late winter before new growth emerges. Спосіб посадки: Розмноження діленням куща Відстань між рослинами: 18–24 дюймів Висота: 18–36 дюймів
