Опис

Plant in well-drained, rocky, lean, alkaline soil in full sun; Texas sotol is a dramatic native xeriscape plant of the Chihuahuan Desert and Edwards Plateau, forming a globe of many hundreds of narrow, finely toothed, spoon-based leaves with serrated margins and a distinctive dried-flower-arrangement appearance year-round. Established plants occasionally send up towering flower stalks 10–15 feet tall bearing dense clusters of small white flowers in summer, then produce fruit and seeds over the following months before dying back — the vegetative rosette survives and eventually produces another stalk. The base of the leaves was a critical food staple for the Chihuahuan people who roasted and ate the heart (similar to agave); the leaves are used to make sotol fiber and baskets. Slow-growing but extremely long-lived and virtually maintenance-free once established. Спосіб посадки: Висадка розсади Відстань між рослинами: 48–72 дюймів Висота: 36–72 дюймів Дні до схожості: 21–42 Температура ґрунту для схожості: 18–27°C

It is extremely slow-growing and patience is required — established plants can live for many decades.
