Опис

Silver Thatch Palm is a graceful, slender native palm, native to the rocky, alkaline limestone soils of the Florida Keys, extreme southern Miami-Dade County, and the Caribbean, where it grows in coastal hammocks and pine rocklands as one of the most salt- and drought-tolerant palms in the Florida native flora. Its most distinctive feature is the brilliant silver-white coloration of the undersides of the fan-shaped fronds, which flash dramatically in the breeze and give the tree a shimmering, two-toned effect unlike any other native Florida palm. Slow-growing but long-lived, Silver Thatch Palm produces small white flowers in summer followed by round, dark purple berries consumed by birds; historically the leaves were used for thatching (hence the common name). An outstanding specimen palm for the thin, rocky, alkaline marl and limestone soils of South Florida gardens where faster-growing palms would quickly exhaust the substrate — plant in full sun to partial shade, provide excellent drainage, and supply minimal supplemental water once established. Спосіб посадки: Висадка розсади Відстань між рослинами: 72–120 дюймів Висота: 120–240 дюймів Дні до схожості: 60–120 Температура ґрунту для схожості: 24–29°C

Silver Thatch Palm is highly drought- and salt-tolerant and is excellent for the thin, rocky, alkaline soils of the Florida Keys where other palms struggle.
