Опис

Plant in fall in moist, humus-rich, slightly acidic to neutral, well-drained to moderately moist soil in partial to full shade — shooting star is one of the most spectacular native spring wildflowers, producing umbels of 3–20 nodding flowers whose swept-back petals (white to lavender to deep magenta) and prominent yellow anther cone pointing downward create an unmistakable shooting-star silhouette. The flowers are buzz-pollinated exclusively by bumblebees, which grip the anther cone and vibrate at a specific frequency to release the pollen. A spring ephemeral of open woodland, prairies, and moist slopes, shooting star goes completely dormant by early summer and must be marked to avoid disturbing the underground corms. It grows slowly and persists for decades in appropriate conditions. Requires good drainage despite needing moisture in spring — summer-wet conditions cause rot. Outstanding for naturalizing in moist, open woodland gardens with hostas, ferns, and other spring wildflowers. Спосіб посадки: Висадка розсади Відстань між рослинами: 6–12 дюймів Висота: 8–20 дюймів Дні до схожості: 30–60 Температура ґрунту для схожості: 4–13°C
