Опис

Sharp-Lobed Hepatica is one of the first native wildflowers to bloom in the eastern woodlands, producing delicate white, pink, blue, or lavender flowers on slender, hairy stems in late winter to early spring — often while frost still covers the ground — before the deciduous forest canopy has begun to leaf out. The three-lobed, leathery leaves remain green through the winter as an evergreen basal rosette, often acquiring beautiful reddish-purple tones in the cold months; distinguished from Round-Lobed Hepatica by the pointed (acute) tips of its three leaf lobes, it prefers slightly richer, more alkaline woodland soils with good calcium content. A long-lived, slow-growing wildflower of exceptional garden character, Sharp-Lobed Hepatica is best established from fall-planted divisions of existing clumps rather than from seed, which requires 2–3 years of stratification cycles before germination. Plant in moist, well-drained, slightly calcareous, humus-rich soil with some grit or stone in deep shade under deciduous trees. Спосіб посадки: Розмноження діленням куща Відстань між рослинами: 6–10 дюймів Висота: 4–6 дюймів Дні до схожості: 30–90 Температура ґрунту для схожості: 4–16°C

Sharp-Lobed Hepatica prefers richer, more base-rich soils than Round-Lobed Hepatica. Do not plant deeply — the crown should be at or just below the soil surface.
