Опис
Sharp Blazingstar is a native perennial of the Gulf Coast prairies, savannas, and open meadows of Texas and Louisiana, producing dense spikes of pinkish-purple flower heads from late summer through fall that provide important nectar for migrating monarchs and native bees during the critical fall migration period along the Gulf Coast. Unlike many blazingstars that prefer dry, xeric conditions, Sharp Blazingstar tolerates moist prairie soils and the seasonal flooding that characterizes the Gulf Coast prairie ecosystem, making it suitable for a broader range of garden conditions than its dry-country relatives. The tight, upright spike of densely packed flower heads is similar in appearance to Prairie Blazingstar but more compact in stature. Direct sow fresh seeds in fall in moist to moderately dry, sandy to loamy, acidic soil in full sun; corms develop slowly but become very drought-tolerant once established in appropriate open conditions.

Direct sow fresh seeds in fall in moist to moderately dry, sandy to loamy, acidic, well-drained soil in full sun; Sharp Blazingstar tolerates somewhat moister soils than many blazingstars and thrives in the coastal prairie and savanna conditions of Texas and Louisiana where periodic seasonal flooding alternates with drought.
