Опис

Scrub Palmetto is a small, ground-hugging native palm endemic to the ancient, fire-maintained Florida scrub habitats of the central Florida peninsula, growing in pure white sand soils of extreme infertility and drainage alongside the rarest plants and animals in North America. This palmetto typically remains stemless or develops a very short trunk at or below ground level, producing a cluster of bluish-green, fan-shaped leaves 4–6 feet across that emerge directly from the root mass in a way that makes it fire-resistant and able to regenerate rapidly after scrub burns. The small, black, marble-sized fruits are eaten by Florida Scrub-Jays, gopher tortoises, black bears, and other scrub wildlife, making Scrub Palmetto a keystone species in this imperiled ecosystem. Plant seeds in well-drained, infertile, sandy soil in full sun in warm weather; once the root system is established, the slow-growing plants require no supplemental fertilizer, no irrigation, and no soil amendments. Спосіб посадки: Висадка розсади Відстань між рослинами: 60–96 дюймів Висота: 24–72 дюймів Дні до схожості: 30–90 Температура ґрунту для схожості: 21–32°C
