Опис

Sand lovegrass is a taller, more robust native lovegrass of deep sandy soils and sandy prairies across the south-central United States, producing large, open, feathery panicles of light pinkish-green to tan spikelets in late summer that wave gracefully in any breeze — its airy, fountain-like form makes it one of the most elegant of all native prairie grasses for dry, sandy garden situations. Found naturally in sand prairies, sandy bottomlands, and open sandy oak woodlands of the Central Plains and Gulf Coast region, it is adapted to deep, well-drained, infertile sandy soils that challenge most ornamental grasses; it is significantly more tolerant of sand and drought than blue grama or buffalo grass while producing a more visually dramatic plant. The seed panicles provide food for native sparrows and finches through fall and winter, and the dried tufts remain attractive through the cold season. Excellent companion for prairie grasses like indiangrass, big bluestem, and prairie dropseed in sandy-soil native meadow plantings from Texas to the Midwest. Спосіб посадки: Посів у відкритий ґрунт Відстань між рослинами: 18–30 дюймів Висота: 18–42 дюймів Дні до схожості: 7–21 Температура ґрунту для схожості: 18–24°C
