Опис

Rusty Staggerbush is a coarse-textured evergreen shrub or small tree, native to the dry, sandy, scrubby flatwoods, pine ridges, and xeric hammocks of the Florida peninsula and coastal plain from South Carolina to Alabama, distinguished by its large, leathery leaves with rust-colored (ferruginous) scales on the undersides that give the species its common name. In spring it produces clusters of white to pale pink, urn-shaped flowers typical of the heath family (Ericaceae), which are important nectar sources for native bees; the plant may grow 8–20 feet tall in ideal conditions, forming small trees in open scrub habitats. All parts are toxic if ingested by livestock — the 'staggerbush' name refers to the neurological symptoms caused in cattle that graze the foliage. Grow in dry to moist, well-drained, sandy, acidic soil in full sun to partial shade; it is drought-tolerant once established and an important component of Florida scrub restoration plantings. Спосіб посадки: Висадка розсади Відстань між рослинами: 72–120 дюймів Висота: 96–240 дюймів Дні до схожості: 14–30 Температура ґрунту для схожості: 18–24°C
