Опис

Plant in moist, strongly acidic (pH 4.5–5.5), humus-rich, very well-drained soil in partial to dappled shade — pinxter azalea is a graceful, open-branching deciduous native azalea of the eastern piedmont and coastal plain, producing masses of pale to deep pink tubular flowers with long, exserted stamens in April–May before or just as the leaves unfurl, filling shaded woodland gardens with a lovely, sweet-spicy fragrance. Unlike evergreen azaleas, pinxter's open, airy form is beautiful even out of bloom, with yellow-green to orange fall foliage. It grows naturally in acidic, sandy, well-drained soils at the edges of pine and oak woodlands and along stream banks in the Southeast. Slower-growing and longer-lived than most garden azaleas, with exceptional cold and heat tolerance for zone 5–9. An outstanding native alternative to introduced evergreen azaleas that thrives in the challenging, sandy, acidic soils of Gulf Coast pine woodlands without the pest and disease issues of Asian azalea species. Спосіб посадки: Розмноження діленням куща Відстань між рослинами: 36–60 дюймів Висота: 48–72 дюймів
