Опис
Plant in moist, slightly acidic, well-drained to periodically wet soil in full sun; water oak is one of the most common and fast-growing native oaks of the coastal South, easily identified by its distinctively variable leaf shape — three-lobed duck-foot leaves, paddle-shaped leaves, and narrow elliptic leaves can all appear on the same tree. It grows naturally in bottomland forests, wet stream banks, and moist upland soils from New Jersey to Texas and is among the fastest-growing oaks in the South (2–3 feet annually). The very small, nearly round acorns produced in enormous quantities beginning at 10–15 years are critically important for wood ducks, mallards, wild turkeys, squirrels, and deer. Water oak is smaller than live oak (40–70 feet) and better suited to residential landscapes where space is limited. It typically lives 60–80 years.

Час посадки: -4–4 тижнів spring
Plant small container trees in winter or spring in moist, slightly acidic, well-drained to wet soil; water oak is fast growing for an oak (2–3 feet per year when young) and establishes readily from planting.
