Опис

Plant in moist, rich, slightly acidic bottomland soil in full sun to partial shade; swamp chestnut oak is a magnificent large native oak of the rich bottomland forests of the Southeast, reaching 60–100 feet with a straight trunk and broad, open crown with large, chestnut-like leaves 5–9 inches long. The large, sweet acorns (up to 1.5 inches) ripen in a single season and are the largest, most palatable acorns produced by any American oak — they were eaten by Native Americans and early settlers and are readily eaten by deer, turkeys, squirrels, and wood ducks. The handsome, ridged, grayish bark and excellent fall yellow-orange color make this a valuable landscape tree where space permits. Tolerates seasonal flooding but also grows well in moist, well-drained upland soils. Somewhat more tolerant of partial shade when young than most oaks. A premier wildlife and landscape tree for zone 5–9. Спосіб посадки: Посів у відкритий ґрунт Відстань між рослинами: 360–600 дюймів Висота: 600–1080 дюймів Дні до схожості: 21–60 Температура ґрунту для схожості: 7–16°C
