Опис

Shingle Oak is a distinctive and underappreciated native oak of the eastern United States from New England south to Georgia and west to Kansas, immediately recognizable among oaks by its entire, unlobed leaves resembling those of a water beech — a surprising feature for an oak — making it an excellent conversation piece in any landscape. The dried leaves persist on the branches well into winter in a quality called marcescence, providing landscape texture and winter interest, while the abundant small acorns are a reliable annual mast crop for wood ducks, turkeys, white-tailed deer, and numerous songbirds. An adaptable and durable large shade tree for urban and suburban landscapes, Shingle Oak tolerates heavier clay soils and greater pH variability than many oaks, and develops a graceful, broadly pyramidal to rounded crown at maturity with modest fall color ranging from yellow to russet brown. Direct sow fresh acorns in fall in well-drained, moderately fertile, acidic to neutral soil in full sun to light shade. Спосіб посадки: Посів у відкритий ґрунт Відстань між рослинами: 480–720 дюймів Висота: 600–840 дюймів Дні до схожості: 14–21 Температура ґрунту для схожості: 4–16°C
