Опис

Plant in well-drained, alkaline to slightly acidic, rocky to loamy, dry to moderately moist soil in full sun — plateau live oak is the iconic evergreen oak of the Texas Hill Country, Edwards Plateau, and Balcones Escarpment, where it forms the defining, spreading, ancient trees of the landscape. Nearly identical to the coastal live oak (Q. virginiana) in appearance, it is distinguished by its superior cold tolerance (surviving zone 6 winter cold without damage) and extreme drought tolerance, adapted to the thin, rocky, alkaline limestone soils of the Hill Country where moisture is scarce. Trees develop the same magnificent, broadly spreading, rounded crown with leathery, dark evergreen leaves and massive, gnarled trunks as coastal live oak but in harsher conditions. Small acorns in the red oak group ripen in two years. This is the live oak for central and west Texas gardens — offering the same magnificent landscape presence as its coastal relative but with dramatically greater cold hardiness and drought performance. Спосіб посадки: Висадка розсади Відстань між рослинами: 180–360 дюймів Висота: 240–540 дюймів Дні до схожості: 14–30 Температура ґрунту для схожості: 10–18°C
