Опис

Sow seed in fall in moist to well-drained, average to dry soil in full sun to partial shade — prairie spiderwort is a Great Plains native Tradescantia closely related to the more widely grown Ohio spiderwort (T. ohiensis), producing the same distinctive three-petaled violet-blue to pink-purple flowers whose delicate petals last only a single morning before shriveling, but with new buds opening daily over many weeks in spring and early summer. Like all spiderworts, the clear blue-violet flowers are striking when massed, creating a wave of cool color in the spring garden. Prairie spiderwort is generally more compact and drought-tolerant than Ohio spiderwort, reflecting its origin on drier Great Plains prairies. Foliage goes dormant and yellows in midsummer heat — plant with later-emerging perennials to fill in. An excellent native for dry, sunny to partly shaded prairie gardens and informal settings in zones 3–9. Спосіб посадки: Посів у відкритий ґрунт Відстань між рослинами: 12–18 дюймів Висота: 12–24 дюймів Дні до схожості: 14–21 Температура ґрунту для схожості: 18–24°C

The three violet-blue petals have a distinctive triangle formation typical of all Tradescantia species.
