Опис

Root cuttings or plant in virtually any soil type — from dry, rocky, alkaline limestone to moist, sandy loam — in full shade to full sun — possum grape is one of the toughest native vines of the Gulf Coast and South Texas, a member of the grape family with succulent, deeply lobed, somewhat grape-like leaves on twining stems. The succulent stems store water, giving this vine exceptional drought tolerance even under large trees where root competition is intense and soil is bone dry. Small clusters of inconspicuous flowers in summer are followed by small, dark purple to black berries that are eagerly consumed by mockingbirds, cedar waxwings, and other fruit-eating birds. It tolerates the deep shade under live oaks, cedar elms, and other large trees better than almost any other vine and is useful as a tough groundcover or fence cover for difficult, dry, shaded exposures. Deer avoid it. Deciduous in zone 7–8; semi-evergreen in zone 9–10. Спосіб посадки: Розмноження живцюванням Відстань між рослинами: 36–60 дюймів Висота: 60–360 дюймів Дні до схожості: 21–42 Температура ґрунту для схожості: 18–24°C
