Опис
Pink Purslane is a native annual wildflower of the southeastern United States and tropical Americas, sprawling across sandy roadsides, coastal dunes, dry flatwoods openings, and disturbed sunny areas with tiny, vivid magenta-pink flowers that open in the morning sunshine and close by midday. A close relative of the Moss Rose (Portulaca grandiflora) sold in garden centers, Pink Purslane is smaller and more delicate but shares the same remarkable heat and drought tolerance that makes portulacas ideal for hot, dry, infertile spots where other flowering annuals fail. The fleshy, succulent leaves are edible — with a slightly sour, mucilaginous texture similar to common purslane — and were eaten by various indigenous peoples of the Americas. Direct sow seeds on the soil surface in full sun after soil warms to 70°F; Pink Purslane self-seeds prolifically in sandy, infertile, well-drained soil and may establish as a recurring garden volunteer.

Direct sow seeds on the surface of sandy, well-drained, infertile soil in full sun after all danger of frost has passed and soil has warmed to 70°F; do not cover seeds, as they require light to germinate. Pink Purslane self-seeds prolifically in sandy soil and may establish itself as a recurring volunteer in the garden.
