Pluot

The pluot is a complex plum-apricot hybrid skewed toward plum, prized for intensely sweet, richly flavored fruit. Plant in full sun and deep, well-drained soil, and provide a suitable Japanese plum or another pluot for cross-pollination. Train to an open vase form and thin fruit to 4-6 inches apart to prevent overbearing. In cold regions protect the early blooms from frost, as flowering can precede that of many plums.
