Опис
Pine Barren Goldenrod is a native perennial of the moist to seasonally wet sandy pine barrens, flatwoods, and boggy savannas of the Atlantic and Gulf coastal plain from New Jersey south to Florida and west to Louisiana, distinguished among goldenrods by its hollow, pithy stem (fistulosa means 'hollow' or 'pipe-like') and its tolerance for the wet, acidic, nutrient-poor soils of flatwood depressions and moist pine barrens. The bright yellow flower spikes in fall are an outstanding nectar source for monarch butterflies, native bees, and numerous other pollinators migrating or overwintering along the southeastern coastal plain. Spreading reliably by rhizomes to form colonies in appropriate conditions, Pine Barren Goldenrod is an excellent choice for wet meadow, rain garden, and moist flatwood restoration plantings. Direct sow fresh seeds in fall in moist to wet, sandy, acidic soil in full sun to partial shade; established plants naturalize readily in wet, open, seasonally flooded settings.

Direct sow fresh seeds in fall in moist to moderately wet, sandy, acidic, poorly drained or seasonally wet soil in full sun to partial shade; Pine Barren Goldenrod is one of the few goldenrods that tolerates and prefers seasonally wet flatwoods and pine barren conditions. Established plants spread steadily by rhizomes.
