The olallieberry is a trailing blackberry hybrid (a cross involving loganberry and youngberry parentage) popular along the California coast for its rich, sweet-tart flavor. Its long, sprawling canes must be trained onto a trellis and are best separated by fruiting year for easier pruning. Grow in full sun in fertile, well-drained soil with regular irrigation through the dry season. Prune out fruited canes after the early-summer harvest and tie in the new canes for next year.
