Опис
Nodding Mandarin is a beautiful native woodland perennial distinguished from its close relative Yellow Mandarin (Disporum lanuginosum) by its larger, pure white, purple-spotted, bell-shaped flowers that dangle conspicuously from arching branch tips in April and May — an unusual and eye-catching display in the spring shade garden. Native to moist, rich, deciduous cove forests and north-facing slopes of the Appalachians from Ohio and Pennsylvania south to Georgia and Alabama, it grows in similar conditions to Solomon's seal and False Solomon's seal, with which it often associates. The red-orange berries that follow in summer attract birds and add late-season interest; the plant slowly spreads by rhizome to form loose, graceful colonies over time. Divide clumps in fall, or plant nursery transplants in spring in deeply amended, consistently moist, humus-rich, slightly acidic soil in full shade.

Divide rhizome clumps in fall or plant nursery transplants in spring in moist, humus-rich, slightly acidic to neutral, well-drained soil in partial to full shade. Nodding Mandarin is less common in cultivation than Yellow Mandarin but adapts well to the same moist woodland garden conditions.
