The nessberry is an old dewberry-raspberry cross developed for the hot South, producing dark, wine-red berries with a sprightly flavor. Its trailing canes benefit from a low trellis and adapt well to heat and heavier soils where standard raspberries struggle. Plant in full sun in well-drained ground and mulch to keep roots cool and moist. Remove spent floricanes after the summer crop and train fresh primocanes for the following season.
