Опис

Mountain Camellia is a striking native understory shrub or small tree, native to rich, moist, wooded slopes, ravine walls, and stream terraces in the southern Appalachians from Virginia and Kentucky south to Georgia and Alabama, blooming in July and August with large, white, five-petaled flowers bearing a prominent cluster of orange-tipped stamens. Larger than Silky Camellia (Stewartia malacodendron) and more cold-hardy (to zone 5), Mountain Camellia blooms later in summer when few other native shrubs are flowering, extending ornamental interest deep into the season. The smooth, exfoliating gray bark provides attractive winter interest, and the foliage turns shades of orange and red in fall. Grow in moist, well-drained, acidic, humus-rich soil in partial shade — it is somewhat more tolerant of garden conditions than Silky Camellia and establishes more readily from nursery transplants, though it is still slow-growing and long-lived. Спосіб посадки: Висадка розсади Відстань між рослинами: 96–180 дюймів Висота: 120–240 дюймів Дні до схожості: 90–180 Температура ґрунту для схожості: 4–13°C
