Dawn redwood is a fast-growing deciduous conifer often called a living fossil, prized for feathery fern-like foliage that turns coppery orange before dropping in fall. Choose a location with abundant vertical and horizontal space, as mature trees reach 70 to 100 feet with a broad conical form.
