Опис
Plant bulbs with the neck at or near the soil surface in well-drained, moderately fertile soil in partial shade to full sun — white spider lily is a rarer and more refined cousin of the familiar red spider lily (Lycoris radiata), producing pure white spider-like flowers with long, arching stamens and reflexed petals on bare 18–24 inch stalks in August–September, just as summer heat begins to break. The white flowers are luminous in evening light and especially effective planted in masse with red spider lilies for striking contrasting colonies. The winter strap-like foliage is attractive through spring, then dies back completely in summer. Like all Lycoris species, the bulbs contain toxic alkaloids and are deer-resistant; they naturalize reliably in the South with no supplemental irrigation once established. The elegant, ghostly white flowers create a dramatic late-summer effect when most other summer flowers have declined in heat.

Plant bulbs with the neck at or just below the soil surface in well-drained, slightly acidic to neutral, moderately fertile soil in partial shade; white spider lily follows the same leafless-flower cycle as red spider lily — flowers appear on bare stalks in late summer and fall, before the foliage emerges in winter.
