Опис

Plant in moist to wet, strongly acidic, humus-rich, peaty, sandy to loamy soil in partial shade to full sun — loblolly bay is a spectacular native evergreen tree of the Gulf Coast and Atlantic coastal plain bay swamps and wet pine flatwoods, producing 2.5–3 inch, pure white, camellia-like flowers with prominent gold stamens that appear from June through October in the hottest part of the summer when few other flowering trees bloom. The dark, glossy, evergreen leaves are handsome year-round; the bark is attractively furrowed and gray. It grows naturally in the acidic, peaty, frequently saturated soils of bay swamps, seeps, and wet flatwood depressions — conditions exactly matching an acidic, moist bog garden or the wet margins of a natural pond. It is closely related to the camellia family and equally demanding in its soil pH requirements; failure is almost always caused by insufficiently acidic soil. An outstanding native flowering tree for wet, acidic, shaded garden sites in zone 7–9. Спосіб посадки: Висадка розсади Відстань між рослинами: 120–240 дюймів Висота: 360–720 дюймів Дні до схожості: 30–60 Температура ґрунту для схожості: 16–21°C
