Опис

Plant corms in moist, humus-rich, slightly acidic, well-drained soil in partial to full shade; konjac is a remarkable shade-tolerant tropical edible related to taro, producing a single enormous, deeply divided compound leaf on a spotted, mottled stem resembling a snake — an unmistakable tropical accent in the shaded garden. The corm is the source of konjac flour (glucomannan), used to produce shirataki noodles, konjac jelly, and low-calorie dietary products throughout East Asia. When flowering (in years without leaves), the plant produces a massive, offensive-smelling inflorescence similar to corpse flower. Before eating, the raw corm must be cooked thoroughly — it contains calcium oxalate crystals that cause intense mouth burning when raw. Established corms reach several pounds over 3–4 seasons. An outstanding tropical foliage plant for shaded Gulf Coast gardens where its bold, architectural leaf is exceptional. Спосіб посадки: Посадка бульб Відстань між рослинами: 24–36 дюймів Висота: 36–84 дюймів
