Опис

Plant in moist to wet, strongly acidic (pH 4.0–5.5), humus-rich soil in partial shade to full sun — inkberry is a native evergreen holly shrub of the Atlantic and Gulf coastal plain, growing naturally in bogs, pocosins, pine flatwoods, and moist woodland margins. It tolerates shade, wet soil, and flooding conditions that defeat most other shrubs. The small black berries in late summer and fall are consumed by dozens of bird species including wild turkeys, wood ducks, and bluebirds; bees (especially Melittidae oil-collecting bees) work the small white flowers in spring. It spreads steadily by suckering roots and can form dense, wildlife-shelter colonies over time. Named cultivars include 'Shamrock' (compact, mounding) and 'Densa' (dense form). An outstanding native evergreen for wet, acidic soils where Rhododendron and Kalmia cannot be grown. Plants are dioecious — both male and female plants are needed for berry production. Спосіб посадки: Розмноження живцюванням Відстань між рослинами: 36–60 дюймів Висота: 48–96 дюймів Дні до схожості: 60–90 Температура ґрунту для схожості: 10–18°C
