Plant in moist, slightly acidic to neutral, well-drained soil in partial shade; American alumroot is the most widely distributed native Heuchera of eastern North America, found on rocky woodland slopes, cliff faces, and shaded stream banks from Canada to Georgia. The attractive, rounded, shallowly lobed leaves are often marked with attractive metallic silver marbling and remain semi-evergreen in mild winters, providing year-round ground-level interest in shaded borders. Small greenish-white flowers on 18–24 inch stems in late spring are modest but attract native bees. The species is one of the important parents in the development of the hugely popular hybrid coral bells (H. × hybrida) industry, contributing foliage coloring genes. Grows in average to poor soils with good drainage — excessive fertility and moisture promote crown rot. Divide every 3–4 years when the crown heaves from soil.

Час посадки: 0–4 тижнів spring
Plant divisions in spring in moist, slightly acidic to neutral, well-drained soil in partial shade; American alumroot is the most widespread native Heuchera species and the parent of many ornamental cultivars, though H. villosa outperforms it in hot, humid climates of zone 7–9.
