Опис
Goldie's Fern is the largest of the native eastern wood ferns, native to rich, moist deciduous forests from Quebec and the Great Lakes south to Georgia and Tennessee, where it grows in deep, humus-rich, neutral to slightly acidic soils — often in ravines, north-facing slopes, and sheltered hollows alongside sugar maple, yellow birch, and basswood. Its massive, arching, golden-green fronds can reach 4 feet in length and create a dramatic bold-textured mass in the shade garden; though deciduous, the fronds remain attractive through much of the season before dying back in late fall. Goldie's Fern is less common in cultivation than many wood ferns but is reliably hardy and long-lived in appropriate conditions — it simply requires the richest, most consistently moist soil and the deepest shade you can provide. Divide clumps in early spring before the fronds unfurl, or plant nursery transplants; mulch heavily with leaf litter to maintain consistent moisture and soil temperature.

Divide clumps in early spring or fall and plant in moist, humus-rich, slightly acidic to neutral, well-drained soil in partial to full shade; Goldie's Fern is the largest of the native eastern wood ferns and benefits from deep, rich, consistently moist soil to produce its full-size fronds.
